As part of the broader Unitarian Universalist effort to build an anti-racist mutlicultural religious community, UU Allies for Racial Equity (ARE) invites white UUs and friends to a weekend workshop on whiteness.
Participants will deepen our understanding of whiteness and the forces that have shaped our own personal racial identities. We will explore the dynamics of white identity and privilege in the age of President Obama and the changing demographics of our country. We will discuss ways to be allies to People of Color, to end racism in white controlled institutions, and to shape anti-racist identity and practice within ourselves and the people in our lives.

BUILDING MULTIRACIAL TEAMS
Community Dialogue
September 28, 2014 at 1pm - UU Church of the Restoration, Philadelphia, PA
UUs and friends of all racial identities are encouraged to join in a community conversation exploring how people of color and white allies can work together to bridge communities and transform UU congergations, and how together we as Universalist Unitarians might shape anti-racist identity and practices. We will discuss why building multiracial teams is important for our social justice work and creating ministries for the future. RSVP preferred (no fee). Contact Bruce Pollack-Johnson at pollackjohjson@verizon.net or Paula Cole Jones at pcolejones@gmail.com for more information.
The worship service at 11am at Restoration will focus on the UUA Beloved Conversations program, a covenant group format for deep discussion of personal stories and race at the individual and institutional levels. Potluck will start at 12:30pm; bring something if you can, but feel free to join in the dialog even if you can't.
